Hi lakedistrict, thanks for your comment. I am pretty sure they were duplicates because on zooming in, they were right on top of each other (i.e. they were in identical positions). If they were 2 gates or 2 trees, I would expect them to be close but not identical positions.
If you think I am mistaken (I do make mistakes sometimes), I can undo the changes in this edit - please let me know in this case. Thanks, hvzsr.

Hi RedRocker87 - I see you set review_requested=yes on this changeset. I've had a quick look at it and it seems fine to me (I am just an OSM mapper like you, albeit with a few more years mapping). Was there anything specific that you were concerned about? If it's just that you wanted some reassurance that you're doing the right kind of thing, then I'd say you are fine - keep on mapping :)
