There we go. The upload completed successfully this time. Lots of new detailed landcover for the norwegian side of the Norwegian-Russian border. Hope it is clear now that this wasn't a bad idea.

The goal is to add detailed landcover for all of Norway. The import is part of a community effort: osm.wiki/Import/Catalogue/Topography_import_for_Norway

The import effort is split by municipality. Sør-Varanger, where these edits are taking place, is one of the biggest municipalities in Norway by area. Hence why the dataset is pretty large and unwieldy, and also why it results in a lot of map edits.

Landcover imports are kinda hard to split up in a sensible way. the dataset consist of a lot of multipolygons that are heavily interconnected. So, if possible, doing the import as a single upload is preferable. It means you don't have to stitch areas back together after you're done.

That being said, I just found a separation of the dataset that allows me to cut it in two with only a single line broken. So going with that approach now instead. It will still be two big uploads, but at least it is slightly more manageable.

I reverted the import for now, as it didn't complete successfully, due to a minor issue.

I am re-uploading it, including the aerodrome, as is, since the dataset is big enough to bring my JOSM instance to a crawl. Aborting the upload will cost me a few hours. I know it isn't ideal to introduce overlapping landcover/landuse, and I will be addressing this ASAP, as the import completes. Thanks for letting me know you care.
