There is no official path to follow across Kinder Scout. Walkers have to make their own way across and whilst it possible and permissable to cross the path is 'undefined'.

Thanks for the advice. It appears that there is inconsistent guidance as the 'short' definition of a Footpath is 'Urban paths designated for pedestrians only'. As this definition is the one that appears when digitising / editing features then it is less likely that users will refer to the more detailed definition provided in your link. Is this something that could be corrected in the editor? In the meantime I will use Path and set the Access to Foot=yes to make it clear that this is a footpath NOT in an urban area. I trust that this will resolve the problem you have identified.
