Hey GarfieldGreen,

Thanks for contributing to OSM! I just wanted to check on way/367771767(https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/367771767#map=13/26.1409/89.6219). I see that you have added 'highway=road' tag to this way. Before this addition, the way was describing a division ('DIV_NAME=Rajshahi Division', https://osmlab.github.io/osm-deep-history/#/way/354482964). As a remote mapper I am still assuming that this way is a division, but I unable to use any imagery that shows this way as a road.
If this addition was made inadvertently, we can remove the 'highway=road' tag.

Thanks and Happy Mapping,
Gizelle

Hi Ilya!
Having up to date traces available to the OSM community would certainly be helpful for making accurate edits. We look forward to hearing updates from you. Feel free to contact our team on github https://github.com/OSM-DCT-Lyft/US

Hi Zverik!
My name is Gizelle, I am apart of the OSM Mapping Team at Lyft. We appreciate you in letting us know about this error and reverting the change.
As the change in the directionality of this road was so recent we didn't have a resource that was up to date enough to catch it.
In the future we will do better at checking the changeset history to account for recent changes that local mappers have made.
Best,
Gizelle

Hi Jan!

We appreciate your suggestions and understand your reasoning. It is very important to us that we are using the correct tags in OSM so we consulted the California OSM Community via Slack before using these tags. You can find the conversation that took place on the #california channel of the OpenStreetMap Slack.

We kept the lane count to 3 because the lanes tag describes the # of vehicle lanes and excludes bicycle lanes. In OSM wiki ". . . the following lanes should be excluded: . . . Bicycle lanes. Use the tag cycleway=lane for those." (lanes=*) So on Galvez St. there are 3 vehicle lanes and 1 bicycle lane.

Regarding turn lanes, using "none" does not necessarily mean that you are allowed to turn everywhere. According to OSM wiki, the description of "none" is, "there are no turn indications on this lane . . . This value could be skipped for a shorter format, so ||right is equivalent to none|none|right. Some people find the latter more readable."
(turn=*#Turning_indications_per_lane)
On Galvez St. using Mapbox Satellite imagery we do not see any turn lane restrictions painted on the road thus we marked the rightmost lane as "none"

Thank you for the additional information.

Best regards,
Gizelle

Hi Jan!

Thank you for your feedback - we have added back the 'turn:lanes' tag. It was deleted in error.
Even though 'turn:motor_vehicle:lanes' tag is a less supported tag, our team is hoping to improve the map by adding this extra level of the granularity.
As for the 'turn:bicycle:lanes' tag, presently we will not be using this tag. Overall we will be using 'turn:lanes', 'cycleway', 'turn:motor_vehicle:lanes' and 'bicycle:lanes' tags on this way (396883569) to capture more detail here. If you have any additional feedback on these tags or our process we welcome the opportunity to learn and grow.

Thank you again for your message. We want to be able to contribute the highest quality edits to OSM.

Best regards,
Gizelle

Hi freebeer,

I'm Gizelle and work on Lyft's OSM editing team.
Thank you so much for telling us your research on these broken relations. We used achavi, that you linked in your comment to locate the broken cycle route and using iD Editor to correct it.
We have been researching relations and our team will be undergoing training to avoid future issues. The achavi visualization tool that you provided was helpful in finding issues, and we hope to use this and JSOM to validate our changes moving forward.
If there are any experience mappers with similar issues, we appreciate feedback and the opportunity to learn from you!
Thank you again, freebeer, and I hope you get some well-deserved sleep.

Best,
Gizelle :D

Thank you for your responses! Given this is an area under construction I will not make major changes to the ramps.

Thank you for your response!
I am wondering which imagery you are using? Based on the imagery in iDeditor way/644955975 does not appear aligned.
Thanks!

Hello rdnaskela23!
For way/644955975, I was wondering if this was below street level, to prevent intersecting way errors?
Thank you,
Gizelle
