Splitting the tree area into many small manageable areas (adjacent multipolygons) is exactly what you want to do to make life easier.
There are some pretty complex multipolygons that are hard to manage here. Nature preserve seems more appropriate.

See my latest woods edits for two solutions. The first, I removed the woods ways next to Cascade Creek and made the creek an outer member of the woods multipolygons on either side. In the second, I split another section of woods into two by simply breaking the ways and jumping across the woods with a straight line segment. Two woods segments adjacent in the editor render as one. Does this help?

Elliot, just saw the you split the woods along Cascade creek. There is no clearing across the creek - it's covered by woods with trees right on the stream bank. It seems overboard to go through all that effort when there is no clearing. Same thing with Norris Lane - it's all covered by woods. You'll save yourself a lot of work by not splitting these and it will be more accurate as someone on the ground would expect a clearing along the length of the stream. A rule of thumb I use is if I can't see a clearing in summer imagery then don't add one. I can see you're putting a lot of effort into this. Thanks.

Mapathon may be possible sometime later this Spring. I'm busy the next few weekends. I'm working my way west. I've pretty much knock out the Avalon area and now working toward the Orange Grove area. I was actually going to hit that up today but may not make it.

Unfortunately, that is not correct. Howard County calls this Savage Park. Wincopin Trails refers to the trails only. The Wincopin trails themselves are in the area bounded by the Little and Middle Patuxent rivers, Vollmerhausen Road, I-95, and the neighborhood to the west. Please go to Google streets view on Vollmerhausen Road to see the sign which read "Savage Park, Wincopin Trail Access, Howard Country Recreation and Parks".

Don't understand why cliffs have been added where they are no cliffs. The cliff lines cut across roads and trails. The cliff markings also interfere with maps generated using contour lines and shading such as those generated from this data at opentopomap.org and several maps generated for download to GPS devices with separate contour and shading map layers.

I removed this rectangle. It doesn't make any sense at was labeled Baldy Town Camp but encompassed many campsites and territory in between. All the Philmont campsites are entered into OSM using the UTM waypoints available on the Philmont GIS page.
