That's great, thanks for extending the grassland relation. I'll certainly try and find time to work on this too, now I know what the plan is.

Hi,

I noticed today that there's a straight line across Skagi where a grassland relation stops suddenly:

relation/11604804

I know you're more of an expert on land cover and working with relations than I am, and so I wondered if you'd mind taking a look at it? I'm assuming that the relation should stretch north at least a little bit.

(I'm leaving the comment on this old changeset because it was here that the straight line way was created: way/906923892.)

Thanks,
M.

Hi,

I'm just wondering why you removed the highway=residential tag from Maríugata? If it's still under construction the tags should be highway=construction and construction=residential. If it's been removed or it's another type of road, then we should add some other tags to indicate what it is.

I improved the alignment of the buildings on Sólgata in changeset/111885119. The gap between the church and the row of houses should be much better now, and you can use that alignment if you ever want to correct the alignment other buildings. Good luck with your map!

From experience I would say it’s better to try and do things bit-by-bit, because otherwise tasks become too overwhelming. I’ll aim to find some time soon to realign more of Ísafjörður.

The GPS traces are visible on https://ja.is/kort/ (click the 360 button). I work for Já so I have direct access to the raw GPS coordinates. Staðfangaskrá is a public government dataset available from https://skra.is/gogn/grunngogn-til-nidurhals/stadfangaskra/. Those two datasets aren’t perfect but combined they can provide a high level of accuracy.

GPS traces from Já 360 and locations of addresses in Staðfangaskrá (both available for use on OpenStreetMap).

The whole of Ísafjörður is slightly off actually, but that was too big of a job for me to take on.

I reinstated the roads removed from Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in changeset/110792951.

Could you explain why you deleted a few roads in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Mauritius? From the satellite imagery they look like they were legitimate. I'm minded to add them back in unless you say otherwise.

The L-shaped building is under construction — according to the latest satellite imagery at least, not sure what it's like on the ground now — and it's listed in Staðfangaskrá as house number 7. It doesn't appear in the Já 360 photos since they're from 2017, before construction started. That all certainly makes for a confusing situation.

Hi,

I've no idea why these rocks don't appear on any of the satellite imagery, but they definitely exist. See, for example, https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/nature_and_travel/2017/05/15/incredible_location_for_a_lighthouse_perched_on_a_r/. It's a pretty spectacular setting!

That is interesting that JOSM and iD diverge and this.

I had a look at the wiki page for highway=cycleway and it says that there are indeed two tagging schemes in use:

highway=cycleway + foot=designated + segregated=no

highway=path + bicycle=designated + foot=designated + segregated=no

It's definitely the second one that's used in Iceland (I couldn't find any examples of the first scheme using Overpass Turbo). This must be one of those country-by-country differences that are common on OpenStreetMap.

highway=cycleway

OK, good to know. I changed the highway tag from cycleway back to path because that's JOSM's suggested tag for a shared path. I think some routers won't use cyclepaths for walking routes, even if they're tagged as foot=yes/designated.

Hi,

Sorry, I should have checked with you first. I kept the address on the IceTransport node as number 7, but I changed the building back to number 9 because that's how the official Icelandic address database (Staðfangaskrá) has it. That labels number 7 as the new building just to the south. I also checked the Já 360 image for the building, but couldn't see a number on the front (https://ja.is/kort/?x=354026&y=397286&nz=16.53&ja360=1&jh=38.7).

What do you think? Does Staðfangaskrá have the address wrong? Have IceTransport moved?

Hi averza,

Is this definitely a cyclepath only, and not a shared walking/cycling path?

Hi vinevzorova,

First-time editor vodyanoichelik reverted this changeset about ten minutes after you made the original change. Does that make sense to you?

Lovely, thanks. I wasn't really interested in the legalese, it was more so that we had the permission listed somewhere so other people could find it. Now we just have the easy part of changing all the bus stops' names ;)

109710029 over 4 years ago

That's great, thanks for asking.

Do you think you could add the details and proof of the permission to <osm.wiki/Iceland#Data_sources>?

109710029 over 4 years ago

Hi,

Strætó also changed the names of ~500 bus stops over the weekend:

https://www.straeto.is/is/upplysingar/frettir/um-500-bidstodvar-straeto-breyta-um-nafn

They've updated their GTFS feed:

https://opendata.straeto.is/data/gtfs/

I'm not sure if we have permission to use that data on OSM, but we can ask if not. Do you think we could organise an automated import of this data? Perhaps something Apple would be interested in, seeing as they've done things like this before.

Hi,

You can definitely drive into the cemetery, with signage indicating a maxspeed of 20kph. I think the destination-only tagging is superfluous for vehicles because there are no through routes.

I'm not sure why I set bicycle=destination on the roads though, as there's nothing stopping you cycling through (any gates are left unlocked). I fixed that, added maxspeed tags, and altered a few other related things in changeset/109193967.
