Thanks for your quick response! I don’t want to argue, but I’m pretty sure some streets should be reclassified as pedestrian as for now.

According to the wiki,

> highway=residential tag is used on roads that provide access to, or within, residential areas.

> highway=pedestrian is a road or area designated mainly or exclusively for pedestrians. Often found in shopping areas, town centres, places with tourism attractions and recreation/civic areas.

I absolutely agree that most of the Varosha ways are indeed used to be residential. Moreover you did a great job of refining access tags with conditionals on all these ways, and most routers would easily navigate them now.

At the same time I believe it’s very important to distinguish the few streets which were recently made open for the public. Right now they are not used as a part of a residential area. For better or worse, right now they function as tourism attractions inside of the overall restricted area. That’s why I mentioned the TotG in that context.

Overall these several streets became very different from the surrounding streets by their current use, and I find the pedestrian tag fits here perfectly.

Apart from being more relevant to the factual situation, this change would also help casual map users easier see the current state of things on most of the renderers.

If you agree with these points, I would happily replace “residential” tag with “pedestrian” for the affected ways, while preserving your amazing edits on access and time conditionals.

Hello! I want to ask, are you sure that the correct street class for those with permissive access would be highway=residential and not highway=pedestrian? In my opinion, according to the TotG principle, the streets which are made available for visiting are pedestrian right now
