| 128661792 | about 3 years ago | I deleted a drawn building error. I didn't delete Lafayette Street or Coolidge Street or at least not intentionally. I do recall removing a point on Main Street dropped in error while attempting to move the map. If that caused a deletion of a street...that action did not appear on my screen...then apologies. I did rename, per your request, the Dollar General. I also adjusted that roof/building footprint to hopefully better capture the building's footprint. As to your comment that "we don't...roof...", that is an impossible ask if all one has are satellite imagery at a nadir angle of which 99% or more of the image is the roof and not the building footprint. Hence, you're speaking as if someone has a picture of the building's footprint with which to draw from in addition to the roof line, which nearly 99% of the time is not the case with satellite imagery/remote sensing imagery. Additionally, you stated "use the street sign" in regards to one street...Gerard or Girard. I used the OSM existing street name on the OSM map to enter the name of the street. If there's an inconsistency with the street sign and the street name on OSM then by all means correct it, but insisting that the mapper find the street sign to confirm the already entered OSM street name isn't realistic for every case. 100% perfection is an admirable goal and when possible should be the target. It isn't, however, a realistic goal. Hence the request for validating. Is one to assume that you reside in VB, Maine? If so, I'm glad you're validating any entries. Going forward however, you may want to consider your audience and view them as adults who require context with any corrective language. Just stating "you're doing it wrong" is not entirely helpful. I'll, of course, listen to those comments but under advisement and I'll seek out other inputs before making adjustments. Hopefully, these comments provide you some insight into how others who are new to OSM seek to navigate within this community and correctly map in OSM and are not seeking to damage OSM's database with inaccurate information. |
