Hi Caleb, Route Masters don't have ways (road segments). Routes (members of route masters) do have ways (road segments).

The tags change every 2-3 months, it seems, so probably not "continuously". Some of the information is required to be able to unambiguously reconcile routes. When the OSM routes are (mostly) completed in NSW, it will be time to take stock of how to maintain them in a labour-effective way moving forward, but at the current rate of progress it will be some time in mid-2026 or so.

As there are thousands of bus stops and hundreds of bus routes that I am examining, I would like to have a better workflow, but automation is not currently possible. I am hoping that automation *might* be possible once the missing stops and bus routes are added (so that existing stops are members of a route relation), but there are a lot of existing stops that also need updating. Manual effort won't achieve 100.0 percent accuracy, and the few errors (out of the thousands of edits) should not be a cause for alarm (particularly as you have a process to identify and remedy the situation). Yes, perfection would be nice, but is it a realistic goal?

I looked at some of the ferry routes. Some of them needed more extensive work to be accurate (and probably compliant). One of the Oz moderators stuck his oar in, and I have focused on bus routes since then. There are so many bus routes I haven't gotten back to ferry routes and all of their problems.

Hi,
Yes, the rail lines need updating. It appears that some may have been done with PTv1 ideas (1 route with ways marked both forward and backward) and some with PTv2 ideas (separate routes and ways for each direction). I have been working with the bus routes, but as there are thousands of them in NSW, so it remains a WIP. See PTNA for the status of the various rail/tram/ferry/bus routes and what is wrong about them.

Newleaf Parade is marked as one-way, but TfNSW buses are apparently still travelling the other direction. The current imagery doesn't appear to indicate one-way traffic. Please Check.

Thanks, sorry about that.
The autocomplete can sometimes be a hindrance when a lot of edits need to be done. :-(
At this point, I am only trying to expand geographical coverage, and map primary routes. routes.txt has 10K entries and stops.txt has 170K, so synchronisation is likely going to be a ways off.

I should have been more specific in the comment. "Start adding (gtfs) stops (as OSM platforms to update to PTv2)".

Yes, I needed to go back and unravel the whole platform/stop issue. (There are a bunch of problems/inconsistencies on the NSW lines and I have since been busy with bus routes...) While there is reasonable tooling to examine/correct bus routes, the ecosystem is smaller for train routes.

Hi Andrew,
I have finally found these notes buried in my gmail feed after getting a message in OSM about them. (They appear in a gmail category that gets 20-50 messages per day, outside of my usual inbox).
Currently, the naming of elements appear to all over the place. It is only when they are seen in summary form, by using a tool such as PTNA can the scope of the inconsistency be seen.

You are correct, the screen paint sometimes alters the screen after the thought and muscle process of clicking the button begins, resulting in a a different button being clicked... :-(

Possibly, but that wasn't a factor in the edit. The misspelled attribute value change was to simply reflect the original author's intent (and thereby improve the map).
