about 1 year ago | Hi. I go up to the Lankershim Memorial periodically. The area is the property of the Boy Scouts of America, and it's open to the public. I've never seen the gate locked. Unless you feel strongly, I'm going to revert this change. Yes?
over 1 year ago | If that's more appropriate, feel free to make that change
over 1 year ago | I have been there. Trip report: https://eispiraten.com/viewtopic.php?t=9020 The camping areas marked in this changeset are public. No gates or signs. Dorner's camp is UCR property. Both signed and gated at the marked locations. No hiking or biking or driving or anything.
over 1 year ago | I grabbed the .gdb from https://dpw.lacounty.gov/general/dgn/ and then imported to qgis, and I see the same offsets that I see with the assessor's map. It can't be the geoid because the loomis and chilao properties have very different offsets (see the post linked above). So my best theory is that the cadastral data has been updated between when you used it and now. But... the Loomis Ranch boundaries make sense in YOUR import, but not in any other dataset!
over 1 year ago | Hi Matt. I'm looking at the LA county assessor data and the cadastral property line data and they both put these properties in a different spot. The locations on OSM make much more sense given where the buildings actually are, but I don't understand the discrepancy. Do you know what's going on? A post about this: https://eispiraten.com/viewtopic.php?t=9102 Thanks!
over 5 years ago | OK. Can you point me to the trail inventory? I can't figure out where on their site the ANF is hiding it. I'd like to check some other trails that I think are mostly abandoned, yet are still officially existent
over 5 years ago | Hi. Thanks for pointing this out. A part of this is that I messed-up. The intent was to mark just the N half of this trail as abandoned, so that the MTB loop through Strawberry Potrero would remain. I just fixed that. Marking the part N of that, to the trailhead off Big Tujunga as abandoned was intentional. I've heard reports that this is in very poor shape, and barely passable. I haven't actually been there, but the aerials strongly suggest this is the case. Do you have better info? I feel like there should be SOME way to indicate that this section of trail is worse off than the S half of it. Thanks
over 9 years ago | Hi. Thank you for letting me know. I used these in the import, and left them in by mistake. Fixed. How did you notice this, by the way?
