Changeset When Comment

The route members are derived from another route relation, and are not completely correct. The route has currently been corrected up to New Jalpaiguri. I'll correct the rest of it in the coming days.

Thanks for reaching out! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Some railway lines definitely need correction here. I've also made some tagging corrections here - changeset/174611342

Hi Sanika, welcome to OSM!

Please note that when mapping buildings, we typically trace the roof as an area, then move the area to align it with the building's base. Have a look at osm.wiki/Roof_modelling for a visual guide.

If you need additional help with using or editing OSM (or just wish to meet and/or work with other mappers), feel free to join us in the monthly OSM India online mapping session - https://osmcal.org/event/3930/

> The name "Cedar St" on a sign, which is abbreviated to save space, should be completed to *Cedar Street*, but the name *John F. Kennedy Boulevard* is _not_ expanded to *John Fitzgerald Kennedy Boulevard* in English speaking countries, since the shorter version is the common spelling and pronunciation.

Hey, Insaan ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm curious how you cite the source of this changeset as being "survey" - in all my visits here, I haven't seen any expansion of "EPDP" on the ground.

It also sounded odd that a *Sri Lankan* political party would get a road named after it in India...and the actions of this party don't seem to be the kind that could result in roads getting named after them ๐Ÿ˜… - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eelam_People%27s_Democratic_Party

However, I noticed today that the Wikipedia entry of Chittaranjan Park mentions that it was formerly called "EPDP Colony", which stands for "East Pakistan Displaced Persons Colony". That seems like a much more likely etymology.

Additionally, people aren't likely to know nor use the expansion of "EPDP", so I don't think the expansion should be present in name=*. But this is good information to link in name:etymology:wikipedia=*.

Thanks for tracing these buildings. However, it seems unnecessary to delete existing buildings instead of simply correcting their geometry, especially when the differences are as trivial as the ones here -

Please try to update rather than delete in such cases.

Hey, KhubsuratInsaan. Why was the alt_name="Bahรก'รญ House of Worship" removed in this changeset?

Whoops. This changeset also contains changes made in Hauz Khas Village.

Hi Subrahmanyam Acharya, thanks for your edits! Please note that this building is probably not named "building", and that names are not for descriptions -

Hey Ajay, thanks for adding all these apartment names!

Please avoid misspellings in names. e.g. "Appartments" should be "Apartments".

Also, please use slightly more descriptive comment messages, like "Added apartment name". That makes it easier for other contributors (and you!) to work with your changes later.

Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi ะ ัƒัะปะฐะฝ ะข! ๐Ÿ™‚

Could you please explain why you changed the tag route=subway to route=train in this changeset?

This is a rapid rail project with a dedicated elevated track, and is not part of the regular rail network. My understanding is that this makes it a route=subway, although the wiki does not distinguish very clearly between the two.

This change also (I think) affects rendering and routing in Organic Maps, which only displays route=subway in the subway layer, and only routes along route=subway relations in the subway routing profile. Of course, that's a lesser concern compared to accurately tagging the ground reality...

I hope the following changeset covers all the changes you mention ๐Ÿ˜€๏ธ

Correction - "the relation I've added is the variant going * from KIA to Banashankari, whereas the relation you've linked to is the variant going * from Banashankari to KIA."

Hey Vonter ๐Ÿ™‚๏ธ

Before add a route relation, I download all bus routes in the city and check the existing ones - the relation I've added is the variant going from Banashankari to KIA, whereas the relation you've linked to is the variant going from KIA to Banashankari. They are not duplicates, unless I'm mistaken...

Hi Devika, welcome to OSM!

Please use the name field for verifiable names only. For example, is there a sign here that says "Open Area"? Or is this park known as "Open Area" by the locals?

If not, it's perfectly okay to leave the name field blank. Happy mapping. ๐Ÿ™‚๏ธ

Welp, this is awkward.

This unintentionally large changeset was caused by a mix of user error and an edge case in the editing software.

I usually accumulate changes in Vespucci, then upload them selectively by going into "Search for objects", entering the query `(new or modified or deleted) and inview`, and selecting "Upload elements". This time, however, I got a conflict. I resolved it and tried to upload again - however, at some point (not obvious to me), my selection had been lost, so all my changes were uploaded together.

The issue has been reported to the Vespucci developer.

Hey Tushar! The way I had tagged the traffic signals earlier - attached only to the roads entering the intersection - is the more accurate way. I'm reverting this change, please take care in the future.

For more information, please see highway=traffic_signals#Tag_all_incoming_ways
