I think there has been a misunderstanding. The distinction in usage=* that you are pointing to is between service=yard (controlled by low-speed signals) and service=siding (controlled by high-speed signals). This does not change the fact that tracks leading to a single industry should be service=spur. See the first link in my original comment.

Hm. The wiki says that it's OK to use "bridge=*" on "man_made=bridge" to convey its type/properties, but obviously "bridge=yes" is a bit redundant in that context, so I don't object if you revert.

The tagging required to tie together ways and bridges really could stand to be revisited, but given the community's lack of interest in ontology, I don't really see the point of doing so.

"blueball &13Hwy, Marcus Hook, PA", is not the "name" of anything, and it's badly punctuated and capitalized. Please don't name things unless that name is official or widely used. Thanks.

Ewen,

Can you verify that Barngo Road crosses the upper Warrego on a pontoon or floating bridge? It seems like an unusual site for that.

Thanks,

No problem. I just contacted him. I thought you came off quite well in the recent discussion on OSM-talk, and I am inspired to emulate your behavior in trying to improve "bridge=" and related tags.

Joel,

I'm passing on this comment by GerdP with regards to the old bridge over the Lidan:

"please review:
the tag highway=historic is not clear.
It seems to be a bridge which is no longer in use because a newer one was built.
Is the old one really something like
historic=* ?
If not I think one of the documented tags
highway=disused or abandoned
is better."

I'm not personally familiar with the bridge, so any help you can give to resolve this is appreciated.

Thank you for the review, but it was the previous mapper who added the highway=historic tag. I was just changing the bridge_type key to something better documented. I will pass the message along to the previous mapper.

I see you have changed many "service=spur" to "service=yard". In my opinion, this tag should only be applied to tracks in railroad yards, where many tracks are parallel, and not to single tracks leading to individual industries. I am changing the tag back as I make fixes to individual spurs.

Sorry about that. I messaged the responsible mapper-this may need to go to the DWG (leaving random nodes in various places referring to some sort of economic conflict with China).

Why did "West 9th Street" become "West 9th Placidas Code Street"? That doesn't seem right.

I've had to fix 2 bridges that used bridge='name of bridge' and layer=0 (instead of layer=1) and there are a bunch of other weird tags on the bridges only: "admin_leve", "MALARIA"? Do you know what you are tagging or are you blindly copying these tags from somewhere else?

Because I changed several "bridge:type=suspension" to "bridge:structure=suspension". For some reason, the Platt Bridge had been incorrectly tagged as a suspension bridge, so I also retagged that.

Good point. We don't really have a good standardized scheme for disused/dismantled/collapsed bridges, but that's as good an interim measure as any. I removed the bridge:movable tag and slapped on access=no.

Sorry about this. "Footbridge" is kind of a weird tag. I'm not sure my bridge is exactly accurate but I don't know that it's any worse in accuracy than the node. Thanks for the comments.
