Dear Scrapper81, I’ve tried to contact you, but you have not responded to changeset comments and you’ve continued to make edits in this area. Thank you for your interest in adding to the map. Some of your work in this golf course has been reverted to its previous state. In openstreetmap we are free to modify previous edits, but we do not simply delete the work of others and replace that work with our own. As much as possible, we try to keep the history of the work by modifying what is already mapped. Please read the OSM Good Practice Wiki in the link below. In the future, please respond to changeset comments and please follow the Good Practice Wiki. Thank you and good luck with your edits. osm.wiki/Good_practice

Howdy, welcome to openstreetmap and thank you for your additions. FYI, the minimum requirements for addresses are a street number and a street name. Can you go back and correct the address fields you've edited? Thank you very much :) addr=*#If_the_address_applies_to_an_area_.28e.g._often_detached_houses.2C_terraced_house.2C_buildings_including_or_without_associated_open_areas.29

Howdy. Can you save your changesets to smaller geographical areas? This one covers most of the U.S. and Mexico. Thanks :)

Hello, thank you for your additions to OSM. Please be careful when editing inside a clearly-marked construction zone. The roads you added here do not exist. They were destroyed long ago. Edits have been reverted.

Howdy :) Thank you for your additions to the map in Wheat Ridge.

Howdy :) Thanks for your additions to openstreetmap. I think you're saying with these edits that East 56th is no longer under construction? FYI, road construction always has two tags associated with it, in this case, highway=construction and construction=secondary. If you want to say the construction is complete, you need to delete all construction tags. As it is now, the tags are not correct. Could you go back and correct this? If you need any help, please feel free to ask. Cheers :) construction=*

Howdy :) Welcome to OSM and thank you for your edits in the Denver area. Just a couple of pointers for ya, it's best not to connect an area, such as a park to the roads around it. If you do this, it just makes editing those roads more difficult. It's best to have the park align tighter with the satellite imagery. Also, there was already a node in the center of this park identifying it. You're correct to map the park as an area, but we need to remove the park node that was there before. We don't just delete it. We attach the old node to a node corner of the new area and then remove the node’s tags. That way, we keep the old node's history intact, If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I've modified your edits so you can see what I'm talking about. Cheers :)

Howdy :) Per your fixme request (Has name been changed to Martin Luther King Jr Blvd?), a recent photo indicates this street name has not changed. Why do you think the name has changed? https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=DMBszRVQ-Omiv5PS4vQY5A&focus=photo&lat=39.75883805555556&lng=-104.86769694444443&z=17&x=0.17121179960903593&y=0.4938836212537112&zoom=2

Howdy :) I think we're more or less on the same page here. In Denver, I-25 is simply called, "I-25" by locals, but we also refer to it locally as the "North/South Valley Highway". Some businesses use that name as their official address. So, it's clearly a working, usable "name". There are dozens and dozens of names assigned to highways and streets, like you pointed out, Purple Heart Highway and Veterans Memorial Highway. A lot of these are designated by decree by some government entity, but the locals don't always accept them for daily use and the street signs don't change. Most of them have memorial plaques at rest areas, but nobody really uses them for navigation. In OSM the practice is to use the "what's on the ground" rule. If one person says a certain thing is so, then another person should be able to go to that place and verify it really is so. Decrees by government agencies to honor heroes, historical events, etcetera, are certainly real. I'm not disputing that the “Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways” designation doesn't exist. I'm just saying that like the PanAm Highway or the CanAm Highway, etc., people don't use it for navigation and it isn't on highway or street signs. This topic came up recently on the OSM Talk mailing list. The best suggestion I saw from the community was the creation of a relation, which seems like a very fair compromise. This way, the honorary or commemorative name is mapped and is searchable. That way it's in the OSM database, but since it's mapped as a relation it won't be confused with the name on a highway sign or a street sign. Cheers :)

Howdy :) So, if the highway is named, "Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway”, then as a local, if anyone asked you for directions, you’d say something like, “Take the Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway west, etc., etc….” Okay, I never have lived for more than a few years in Nevada, but I’ve never heard anyone refer to I-80 as the “Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway”. I could be wrong, but I’d guess people wouldn’t know what you’re talking about if you referred to it. Give it a try ;) I’ve looked at many miles of I-80 on mapillary and I didn’t find a single highway sign with that name on it (but I didn't look at 100% of the entire highway). I assume you’re familiar with OSM verifiability rules? One section says, “Verifiable - means that others can go there and see for themselves if your data is correct.” Do you have any images of highway sign names with this name on it?

Also, in the first link you supplied, you’ll see the honorary “name” given to this highway was changed in 1990 by George Bush to the, “Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways." So, by your reasoning you’re going to go through and rename the highway, “Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways”? I’m thinking you don’t plan to do that, although it is the correct, official name as of 1990.

This “designation” is merely a commemoration. It’s like the PanAm Highway or the CanAm Highway. These are real things, but nobody uses them and they’re not posted on highway signs. They’re honorary. They’re commemorative. It’s a designation that should be mapped, if ever, as a relation. I don’t think there is a single signpost actually naming I-80 as the, “Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways.” But hey, I could certainly be wrong. Is there an image you can refer me to?

Cheers :)
