Please disregard my comment. iD was showing me a mix of old can new data. Thank you for your mapping.

It looks like you added way/878399894, but didn't connect it to the road at the northern end.

I thought I responded, but I don't see it, sorry if you get duplicates.

I'm not worried about past edits, just thought you might be doing a lot more of this so... worth making contact.

If there is a "keep out" sign or a gate, access=private is perfect. For the other cases you describe (like "is not maintained by any city") I would offer/suggest ownership=private. The difference is that access is about your rights to be there, and in Maine, you /can/ generally be there (even privately owned land) unless indicated otherwise.

Also, you've added the tag highway_1=footway and higyway_2=footway to things which look to me to be intended for vehicles. I don't think tags with number suffixes are normal. I would vote to revert this change.

Hi Art,
Thanks for your edits. I keep an eye on Maine and I've seen you focus on 'access' tags. Since it's hard to tell what other mappers see, I just wanted to make sure that we're interpreting that tag the same way. To me, "access=private" means that there is a sign that says something like "keep out", or a physical barrier (gate or fence) not just that the space is /owned/ by a person. If that's not how you see it, lets chat it out.

Thanks for cleaning these up. building=commercial was an artifact from my import process (so there may be a lot more of that).

Welcome to OSM and thanks for adding the addresses and road. Head's up, names shouldn't be abbreviated on the map. I've fixed Ln to Lane.

FYI, you turned a stream into a path. I've fixed it now.

Thank you for your edits. When you place a new building and put address information on it, please remove the address node which was previously there to prevent having multiple elements with the same address. Also, addresses should not be abbreviated. I've corrected "Main Street N" to be "Main Street North". -Alex

I don't know how valuable it is, but when I clean up old GNIS elements (which they need, and thank you for working on that), I try to keep the 'gnis:feature_id' tag, incase anyone wants to link elements to records from the GNIS database. Worth considering. -Alex

BCarl,
I'm working on properties owned by PRLT which includes Frazier Preserve. This park (Way: 560133813) is wildly different from the actual property boundary, and doesn't look like a park to me (with the traditional definition and wiki description). I've made some adjustments since you last touched it. I hope you'll review the change and tell me if anything look inappropriate to you, or just fix it.

Hi Emmabunks,
I've reviewed and removed all the elements you've added to the map because they seem like personal entries, not verifiable facts about the world. I'll also remove any future elements you add that are in the same style. The program you're using (maps.me) lets you add personal markers without publishing them to the world. That would be a better way to keep personal notes or make a geographic diary. I hope this doesn't ruin your day. Please reply if you have questions.

Consider using source=*
which normally goes on the changeset (not on an element).

Thank you for your edits. When you add buildings, it looks like you draw the way, then copy the address tags from the existing address node. Since you don't delete the node afterward, I'm worried about how data consumers might have trouble with duplicate addresses. If I try to get driving directions to 16 Maple Street in Augusta, will I have to choose between two destinations when they are really the same place? Maybe my worries are unfounded but I wish you'd delete the address nodes after you add the buildings. If this doesn't sound right to you, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for your contributions to OSM. The website tags you've been putting on cemeteries aren't "wrong", but they don't seem to be in the spirit of the tag. From website=* "... the full URL to the official website" and official is bolded, meaning a site created my the people who operate the property. Maybe this the official website, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's not.

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your contributions. If something doesn't have a name, it's better to omit the name tag. If there is a sign that says "Unnamed" or it is labeled that on a map, then you did the right thing. there is also the "noname=yes" tag to indicate that something doesn't have a name. Please ask if you have questions.

I also checked the ME DOT road data, which is apparently similarly out-of-date. Thanks for responding.

We expand the whole name in OSM. "Highpointe Cir" should be "Highpointe Circle", "Kitree Ln" should be "Kitree Lane". I've fixed them.

It looks like you deleted the element which had amenity=fuel (NODE: 1637324221, near WAY: 860717750) but didn't replace it. The satellite imagery still looks like a gas station there.
