about 4 years ago | Thanks for pointing out KartaView. I have never used this before. If you follow the imagery going south, you see that the concrete track becomes double track & unlikely to be used as through traffic by four-wheel vehicles. And you are right regarding that short residential road. I'll bridge that gap.... Greetings, Werner
about 4 years ago | Thanks for coming back to me and sorry for the delay on my side. I confirm that the classification now reflects the reality on the ground. A very common problem I encounter with mappers using satellite imagery is that rural tracks used mainly for agriculture but with some settlements are classified "residential". This implies that they can be used by car - which will lead to obvious problems when using auto-routing software. In rural Indonesia the majority of people use motorbikes (scooters) to get around and the road network is accordingly. So I use the tag "track" or "path" if they are too narrow. I know this somehow contradicts OSM wiki "The tag highway=track is used for minor land access roads that are not considered part of the general-purpose road network [1]. Track roads are mostly used for agriculture, forestry, outdoor recreation, and similar activities on open land. Roads used for access to permanent human settlements or facilities should generally not use this tag." Any thoughts? Greetings from Bali....Bernardo

over 4 years ago | Yes, indeed, the first part of the way is wider, as you said, but no car access is allowed. Residential road implies car access - I believe. Better leave it as a path but indicate it is 3m wide. Once around the first bend, it becomes 2m.

over 4 years ago | Hi. I passed this area today on my mountain bike to check out this path. It's very very narrow, only a footpath between rice fields. Bali is full of paths used by motorbikes, therefore it is better to mark these ways as footpaths if not verified on the ground. I come across this kind of situations frequently. Thanks
over 4 years ago | Hi - I looked at the footpaths today and believe they should not be added to the map. They only provide access to the rice fields - after next harvest, they might disappear. They are not used by the wider public, hardly visible, yes you can walk there but that does not make it a footpath. The maps become very loaded if users start to add their personal cross country routes. The name given "Jalan Kaki" is misleading, they don't have a name, Jalan Kaki means footpath in Indonesian.

over 4 years ago | Please ignore my comment, I just learnt that "Relations of type multipolygon are used to represent complex areas with holes inside or consisting of multiple disjoint areas"
over 4 years ago | When creating a landuse feature, you should use the tool for "area", not a "line".
almost 5 years ago | This should be an administrative boundary (therefore a line) and not a village (area).

| 83535517 | almost 5 years ago | Sorry, this "missing link" you added, does not exist. My friends got stuck in that area with their mountain bikes looking for a way to cross the river. Quite an adventure. It has been corrected meanwhile.

over 5 years ago | You changed some of my tags from rural tracks, minor roads and paths to residential. I had to reverse your edits in those cases where they are predominantly used for agricultural purposes, connect residential areas over several kilometers and/or are through roads. I clarified similar cases with your team lead, Andrew Wiseman, and the HOT Indonesia team. I also try to let other mappers know that my edits are based on ground surveys as opposed to satellite imagery. Let me know whether you have some questions.
almost 8 years ago | Hi Adam thanks for your good work. But the deletions confuse me, those roads and tracks do exist and i put them in. Right now there are a lot of loose ends...
almost 8 years ago | Hi Armasari some of the tracks we take on our mountain bikes were deleted by you. Example: Way History: 505530478. Any reason? Everything has been researched on the ground. Hope you are able to restore the previous version. Thx....Werner

almost 8 years ago | I don't believe that this road from Hanging Gardens across Ayung Canyon exists.
