Hi Tony - it was a clear track, cleared and mowed, and a metre or two wide I think - so pretty sure it's not an unauthorised track created by public, at the least.
If I remember rightly, I also observed it a few weeks before I went along it, so it seemed like it was being maintained (whether that maintenance continues or not, I guess is not clear).
