I've been tracing roads and updating them into OSM for nearly 3 months now. I have never written any diary entry until today. First, there isn't anything worthwhile to say. Then, few mappers (very very few actually) mapping nearby are quiet too. They all seem content to work silently in the background.

So, why I’m vocal now? The map status in my area (or make it the whole of Malaysia) is still pretty much just an empty white space. Since we are basically starting out, a lot of standards/conventions unique to local conditions are not spelled out yet. The page on wiki project : Malaysia is silent on this too. Unsurprisingly, the few isolated mapped places have differing standards applied. So, I’m hoping local Malaysian mappers start being communicative and work together towards establishing an agreeable standard for Malaysia (within the larger OSM approved convention of-course!)
