Changeset When Comment

I have reverted this changeset. As this was your only change to the map and contains some beginner mistakes, I thought it would be unfair to expect you to fix it yourself. Good luck on any future mapping.

Hello,
Thank you for your contribution to the map, but there are a few issues with your changes that need to be resolved.

First, I notice that you have not provided a source for these changes.

In regards to the statue, having extra details on how someone might locate the item is a great idea, but the name tag should not contain descriptive text not part of the official name - the 'description' tag could be used for this purpose. See the wiki page on names for more details on good naming practice: osm.wiki/Names

In regards to the garden, you have (accidentally?) renamed it 'Dean's Tree'. If you were trying to pinpoint a specific tree, there is a tag combination for that: natural=tree. See the wiki page for more details: natural=tree

Thanks for your contribution!

This is a good first attempt at an edit, although there are some tricks you might find helpful in the future.

1. When moving building outlines, be aware that the aerial images are not always vertically aligned - there is often a shear effect that causes the roof outline to be offset from the ground floor outline.

If you look at way/859466008, you can see that the outline now overlaps with the boundary fence, which is unlikely to be true. Using ground-level objects like this is an easy way to tell if something is wrong.

2. When drawing regular shapes like cricket pitches, you can use iD (and other editors) to orthogonalise and align them with each other.

3. You've placed the address node/6189412618 in the exact centre of the building. In general, address nodes are only separated from the building itself when indicating the exact location of the letterbox or main entrance, which is usually on the perimeter. Otherwise the address tags can simply be applied to the building object.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the tip, I'll redo those tags now.

What about it?

The simpson centre is a distinct part of the hospital - if I could have used building:part=yes and had it render the name correctly, I'd have done that instead. Breaking it out into its own building is a good balance, I think.

Before I made these changes there was a node with place=locality that defined the name. It was important not to lose that information, but place=locality is not the correct tagging approach for this.

I named the changeset wrong - this is for 61 dean path

This phonebox still physically exists, and is a common tourist attraction for the area.

Better to tag as disused:amenity=telephone, no?
