I think it would probably be best to just remove the node. That area is just all part of Chapel Hill.

Hello. Do you have a source on the "Midtown" designation? There is the shopping center there, but AFAIK no one really calls this area Midtown.

I'm using the web app, which it looks like you can't change the default tags AFAICT (can change the tags via JOSM plug-in). I'm asking in OSM Slack though.

My thought was that after the buildings were added, there could be a future address import or something similar that could update the building type via an official city/county data source instead of just assuming the type from imagery. In the west valley it's fairly easy to tell SFHs, but in the east I think there are more that could possibly be a duplex/small apt, and it's hard to tell without really looking.
