I was experimenting with the tag and found that it only rendered on standard map with the addition of `highway:*`. I now see it is screwing up the rendering on the humanitarian map rendering. I will remove the tags as soon as I am able. Reading your bio you seem knowledgeable about this software. Do you know the repository responsible for the map rendering so I can put in an issue or PR?
