Hi, akadouri!

My name is Yuliya and I am a mapper on the OSM team at Lyft. Thank you for paying attention to this. The edits have been made according to Maxar Imagery, based on my mapping experience it is generally the most up-to-date background. Due to “School safety Improvements” project (spring 2019) it was proposed to convert traffic to two-way (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/aves-v-w-x-cb15-may2019.pdf pages 24-26).
Also, changes of road markings can be seen from comparing Bing aerial imagery (2019) and Esri world imagery (2020).

Best regards, Yuliya

Hello Baloo Uriza,

Thanks a lot for your answer and clarifying your point of view. Probably the misunderstanding arises from the diversity of views on those tags in the OSM community (e. g. https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2018-May/036164.html). We’re trying to take note of the physical properties of the lanes, such as width, and to observe the principle of uniformity, as well.
However, thanks for your time and opinion, it was good to know!

Best regards, Yuliya

Hello Baloo Uriza,

My name is Yuliya and I am a mapper on the OSM team at Lyft.
While mapping in Orange county, CA, I noticed that you changed some tags for the ways, such as “lanes”=*, “turn:lanes”=*, “bicycle:lanes”=* at several ways (way/401461852, way/401469982, way/401300484) on March 6, 2021.

Based on aerial and streetside images, I can identify only 3 lanes for that segment of the road (way/401461852). According to the OSM wiki (osm.wiki/Lanes) “the number of lanes is referred to the lanes available to the traffic using the main highway=* key, in this example and also by definition of lanes=* key motorized traffic, what excludes bicycle lanes”. Also, I can see that you applied “cycleway=shared_lane”, but there are no any identifiers, like “sharrows” or physical sign. Such “road markings are usually there to highlight a cycle route or to remind drivers that you can cycle there.” (cycleway=shared_lane). Do you have any additional sources that provide evidence for such edits? If so we would love to see it. Please let me know if you have any further questions or evidence that could help me to understand your point in this case. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you, Yuliya
