Oh, idk about the spelling, (im not an english native, so i miss stuff like that) but i came up in the presets like that..

i thought it probally was fitting, as you literally can only acces the pier above the water, not the land. : )

to be super clear, these piers are placed so people can moor their boats for a couple days, if you look at some of the others, they are actually having a branch to the shore, so you can go have a picknick there. some of them however are free standing, either because of farmers objecting to people camping out on their land, or to create undisturbed area's for birds, so while the pier remained in its place to moore, the landacces (that in some cases used to exist, but not all!) was removed/not replaced when the rest of the pier was

Actually no, its not about the water, in this case its a pier directly off the shore which does not have a connection to the land, so humans can not get onto the land, while in most other piers its actually possible to touch some grass. do you think that tag is inapropriate for that use?

Oh sorry, voor mij is t een verbinding tussen het voorheen open einde van een pad naar de splitsing waar hij op uit komt, maar doorgetrokken klinkt als ook een goede beschrijving. in elk geval werk ik van splitsing naar splitsing/eindpunt. ik ga naar JOSM kijken.
