Thank you for your feedback. We based our tagging on a few things;
1. The commonly used tags in this area are highway=track. For Example osm.org/edit?edit … 68/99.4921
2. This area looks like an agricultural area based on our recent high-resolution satellite imagery and Bing satellite imagery.
3. This road will eventually connect to another road that is currently tagged highway=track osm.org/edit?edit … 99/99.4854
4. We are also using the wiki to guide tagging. In this case highway=track

Thanks for the clarification. Yes we are aware of the issue and have fixed the bug and edits as we mentioned in this post https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=57387.

We are using both JOSM and an internal iD editor based on V1.8.5 for validation. As described in our wiki the iD editor was extended with features like highlighting our machine generated roads and highlighting validation issues for human editors to fix. The deletion of tags on certain nodes as reported in the post was due to a bug we found and corrected. When the merged OSM data was bought in tags on certain nodes were not loaded into iD so those differences were later detected and submitted as part of the changeset.

We have also added this to our conflict resolution check list to prevent errors like this happening again.

As for connected roads please note we are starting with remote areas using a tasking manager so these roads will be connected as we continue editing in this area.
