I actually do not typically use this tag.
I saw it inside the proposal for foot path in parking aisle

osm.wiki/Proposed_features/access_aisle

To me, the tag seems to mean specifically a ‘landing area that is tactile for demarcation and increase traction’. I like it because it’s more specific than tactile_paving, but you’re correct that I didn’t realize it wasn’t in the wiki. I will stop using it for now, and put in a proposal on the wiki.
