Apologies for the late reply and thanks for bringing this to my attention. I checked the history of the Preston Ponds Trail and it shows I created it 4 years ago based on the DEC's (limited) data. Later I refined it based on Strava Heat Map. However, I did not survey it so I made the crossing a ford rather than give false hope there is a bridge. I was unaware there was a bridge (as shown in your 2014 photo). I don't know the bridge's current status but if you know it is still standing then, by all means, please change the ford to a bridge.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Two years is a long time ago and I no longer recall why I added the camp_site=camp_pitch tag. If it's any consolation, the issue is limited to the sites along Meadows Lane whereas the many other ones I added elsewhere (changeset/50088950#map=16/44.1566/-73.9481) do not have this deprecated tag. I will remove the 'camp_site=camp_pitch' tag.

I have a related question for you. Why is a 'camp_pitch' not rendered on OSM's default map? Here's an example created over a month ago (by adkbenb):
node/7036426899
It also fails to be rendered by GaiaGPS map (they produce a widely used navigation app for iOS): https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=13.4/-74.0488/44.1442&layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet
Thunder Forest's Outdoors map also fails to render 'camp_pitch'.

Only 'camp_site' is consistently rendered by all maps.

Technically speaking, each of these spots is, in OSM language, a camp pitch and not a camp site. In theory, I could change all 'tourism=camp_site' to 'tourism=camp_pitch' (and I generally try to adhere to OSM's definitions). However, if I do that, these redefined 'pitches' will disappear from OSM's map (and maps derived from OSM) thereby making them far less useful to hikers and campers. In other words, compliance with policy will greatly diminish its usefulness to the people who need it most.

I've added signposts, ladders, cables, etc and most are NOT rendered on the default OSM map. That's acceptable because that's a fine level of detail (and only visible on some specialized maps like OpenAndroMaps). However, a camp pitch, like a trail, is vital information for hikers/campers. Until they are rendered by most maps, I would object to changing the tag from camp_site to camp_pitch.

What are your thoughts on this issue?
