I did not intend to follow up with more changes, since (beside your concerns) I do not have the time or patience to do so. Having said that I don't think it is worth while to propose consider about the copyright or other matters.
I will manually revert the changeset, if you do not suggest otherwise (I do not use scripts since I do not feel qualified)

PS Latin was not only the language of the Roman empire. As is also written in the OSM wiki (under name:la) it was used well into the Renaissance. I have no doubts that most, if not all of the early documents of a IX century city like Aast were written in Latin.
In the XIX I was still used also in mathematics: eg. Gauss wrote all his works in Latin and refused to teach any other language. Also Latin was the administrative language of the Austro-Hungarian empire. I will not go on, since I think you get my point.
