OK. Although "Hallboda" does not sound like typical name of a road leading to a farm called "Hallboda", I've seen it on other maps so I guess it must be considered acceptable. I don't think this name was coined by a local linguist but it is intelligible. I think it may be used in postal addresses, so that's one argument even if that usage originally might have referred to dwellings in the vicinity of the Hallboda property.

So, let's go with the government in this case, at least for now! ;)

And yes, if "Hallbodavägen" is in a loc_name, that should help people searching for it. The bus stop at Harövägen is called "Hallboda vägskäl" (Hallboda crossroads) rather than just "Hallboda".

Hi Milan,

Does the government data show the name of the road as "Hallboda" rather than "Hallbodavägen"?

I seem to remember seeing that name on another map, and I may have changed it to what we usually call it (Hallbodavägen). "Hallbodavägen" makes more sense to me given that the name of the farm is "Hallboda" and "Hallbodavägen" simply means "the Hallboda Road".

However, I'd say go with the government data in this case if it seems credible. Perhaps "Hallbodavägen" could be an alt_name because that's what at least some of the locals call it.

I'm afraid I'm too far away from the area at the moment to go there and check, but the names do look right. The names also seem to be the same as those used elsewhere, e.g. here: https://www.hitta.se/kartan!~59.85893,18.91896,15.14660358261266z/tr!i=gRlEKoMc/search!i=3027192666!q=Holmsundsv%C3%A4gen%2C%20Norrt%C3%A4lje!t=single!st=plc!a=59.86487:18.91728!ai=3027192666!aic=59.86487:18.91728

I do have local knowledge and I have walked all three streets many times, so I don't think that the names I entered are entirely wrong. Are the government names completely different or are there just some minor differences?

Hi Milan,

I'm not sure how official the street names in that area are. It is not a residential area and most of the buildings are small cottages. The names I entered ten years ago might be informal, or they may have changed. There is (or was) a map with street names posted near the entrance to the area, and that's where I got the street names from originally. Some were also displayed on signs at intersections. I am currently too far from the area to check if the names are still the same, but I might be able to visit the area this summer.

If the government data is more recent I'd go with their names (at least until I've double checked). Do you know what street names they use, are they very different? Do you have a link to the government source?

In other similar areas nearby, streets have two sets of names: one with numerical names (presumably for administrative purposes) and one with pronouncable names used by the locals. I don't remember if that's the case here but if the government data shows numbers rather than names, then I'd presume that there are two sets of names.
