3 days ago | This update seems to include way too many buildings within the bounds of Columbia U. There are a lot of the buildings that I don't know about, but e.g., my sister's co-op apt building is within the marked bounds. And Bank Street is not a part of Columbia.
8 months ago | Again, this seems to change that I entered in the Every Door app a some time ago but which was not pushed to OSM until a day or ago.
| 166091095 | 8 months ago | That update seems to have be a change that I entered in the Every Door app a couple months ago but which was not pushed to OSM until a day or ago. That app and I do not get on well.

over 1 year ago | It's hard to keep up with the weed shops. Just discovered tonight while walking home that one was opening where another was shut down by the sheriff a couple months ago. This a few days after another a couple blocks away was shut down a maybe a week go.
over 1 year ago | I've only been by here about once in the last 2 years. Did they tear down in prep for new buildings?
over 1 year ago | "Updated a dog"? I had a laugh when I figured it out.
over 1 year ago | I don't know if it made a difference to label placement but I also added a "place=island" to the polygon.
over 1 year ago | I only discovered the alliance website because I googled for info to see which name you mentioned might be official, or less informal.

over 1 year ago | FWIW: The park alliance map has it as White Island.
over 1 year ago | Is there an extra "no" in that description? Agree that W103 is a mess on the block btw Broadway and WEA. I expect it will stay that way until the renovation project on the north side of the street is done, which... next year?
over 1 year ago | Speaking as an inline skater, I can give you lots of gory details. But #BikeNYC peep would know more about this spot. This is a bridge on the park path that crosses over Amtrak. The bridge is wood, wood beams and plywood, and some years ago, it was in terrible shape and was closed. (There was certainly a streetsblog article about it.) It was repaired not too long after (which in NYC these days means within a year, maybe). It was okay last time I rolled this way, which was a few years ago. I don't go this way anymore because the overall path from river level up to alongside the parkway can get really steep and really scary.
over 1 year ago | Just tried using the C for combine action amidst some changes that affected the SE corner of Broadway and W114. Not sure if it worked, so I didn't try updating the NW and SW corners the same way.
over 1 year ago | Of course it would be something simple like that.
over 1 year ago | I think the ones I was messing with were marked as street crossings from one sidewalk intersection to another, and I was lopping the bits that were actually on sidewalk and marking them as being sidewalk. Is there a better to do that without ending up with little lines that represent all of 3 feet of sidewalk?
| 151606045 | over 1 year ago | This is in the OSM Wiki indicates a known issue but not yet settled.
The text there was only added this past February, so I guess it's still evolving. |
over 1 year ago | As an example of a co-name I'd never heard of until last year but which the city uses to some extent, the corner of Broadway and 116th is "Barnard Way". I first saw that used by NYC DOT in announcing neighborhood street resurfacing.
over 1 year ago | I may have learned about the Rockwell naming when I was looking up why the building at # 210 has a plaque about him. Turns out his family lived in that location (obv. torn down and replaced by current building) for a couple years when he was born. The kids at the high school across Amsterdam learned about him and did a project about 8 years ago to get the city to co-name the street, and succeeded. Google says the Odessa Steward naming happened in 2011. http://www.nycstreets.info/honorStreeta7d6.html?b=M&letter=O
over 1 year ago | Okay, sounds like you have no better idea than I do. I guess I'll have to do some more research. I had found a document on the city website listing all the street names and alternates a month ago when I was trying to research the situation in the West 60s. But there was no clarity in it about how official they are (does the city use them when referring to street work? does the post office honor them so that they be used in addresses? etc.). I'd never heard of Odessa Stewart Street until I saw your edit. I had been aware of the Norman Rockwell naming for some time.
