Easter vacation drive...

Posted by RaBalder on 5 April 2009 in English.

Yesterday I set out for a drive from Oslo to Narvik. This time I would follow E6 in Norway (except for following Østerdalen instead of Gudbrandsdalen).

Got a few tracks with my logger set to log every 1 second.

Someway it looks like it hungs up on occations when it looses the signal in tunnels.

So the track is not complete, but the points which are present should be good.

The traces will be uploaded and can be used to check the bends and turns of the E6.

Some residential roads on Kolsås/Norway

Posted by RaBalder on 2 February 2009 in English.

After finishing my professional workday, I went into a residential area to drive along a few roads I knew was uncovered.

South-east of "Kolsås-toppen" the terrain is pretty steep. And there were still snow and ice. But my car had no problems climbing the street up to the highes houses.

Then:
* head home
* download the gpx-file from the device
* draw the new streets using josm
* and finally trigger a regeneration of the tile(s)

Now it is just to wait to see the result......

Started Saturday morning on my drive from north of Narvik to Oslo. And to get a steady winter-road instead of snow and ice, I drove into Sweden again and down via the E45.

And I got a steady winter. -30C almost all the way through Sweden. Pretty cold when refueling in just a t-shirt....

But for the mapping, there should now be an uploaded track from my drive north. And another one for my drive south. They are both with a resolution of a log-point every 1 second.

That should give some good points to work over the existing E45-track, which in some bends and turns seems to be pretty rough.

I don't have the time to do that myself (it's alot of turns and bends in 1600km).

Streets in Narvik

Posted by RaBalder on 29 December 2008 in English.

Drove around with my GPS-logger (QSTARZ GPS Travel Recorder). Great device and it was set to log a position every 1 second. Several streets/roads in Narvik got a visit.

With a one second resolution on the track-log, every bend and turn was detected. The GPS-error is not much to do about except for putting the device with a clear view to the sky.

Have drawn using JOSM, but didn't put on any names. Concerning the names, some of the inhabitants could do that better than me.

Great day.
