Given that this changeset was created with StreetComplete, I'm not sure that's really their choice. Probably should be reported to StreetComplete as an issue

no, this is all from imagery, I think the gpx file is a side effect of the way that damn opens iD

I think going with the signage would be better here as that's what's "on the ground"

it's entirely possible that's wrong, probably worth surveying here again anyway to get the new streets

To make this pathway more useful, it should be tagged with a feature type (probably highway=path) and connected to other paths & roads

I would recommend against doing this, changesets over a large area are hard to review
