over 2 years ago | Hi Tom. I only speak from it being told to me from other more experienced editors. Now that you have provided a way around it I will agree they should be merged. Thank you. Although both are listed on the Wiki as acceptable, a preference should be outlined for consistency when adding these in the future.
over 2 years ago | Hi Tom. I have reverted this for now as it needs to be a node for Overpass access when looking for amenity:pubs. If there is a way around this then I agree it looks cleaner to be merged but when accessing the data through API its better to be a node. I've had discussions with other editors and the node on a building area was accepted as a middle ground.
over 2 years ago | Areas don't come up with Pubs on Overpass. This is the accepted way to resolve this issue. Moved data across from area to new point and leave the building. Its not good form to have both.
over 2 years ago | This is a good point about the Ariel photos. During the summer the school the pitches are not in use and are frequently (every couple of years) resurfaced so it is possible the photos were taken around this time. Independent schools like Haileybury do rugby between September and December, football and hockey from Jan to April, and cricket from April to July. This therefore allows the reseeding to commence on some pitches, as well as other sports such as athletics, swimming, and golf during the summer which mean Twenty Acre can have its rest before being torn up for 7 months again. Hope this I for helps, and thank you for the feedback on my commit notes. I will put if it’s local knowledge along with my description in the future. Ollie.
over 2 years ago | Hello Colin. Firstly I’m not sure how field hockey was determined to begin with I’ll be honest. But it is down to 15 years of local knowledge. I’m more interested how the original sport was determined incorrectly first. Besides local knowledge it would be possible to see on the Schools sport website that the hockey is done on the astroturf pitches and football, rugby, and cricket on others. Cricket can also be seen in the aerial photos for the pavilion fields marked out as well.

over 2 years ago | Sorry I have to jump back in as after further review of this change I believe I followed the correct procedure. The building was marked with Ways which the wiki specifically says should NOT be used for amenity pubs. Could you please clarify your standing on this as I believe this is the exact problem and one I did indeed solve?
over 2 years ago | Apologies for the destructive change. Although I did consult the wiki before hand it seems that areas marked as pubs do not appear through Overpass which is clearly an issue in itself, hence the changes submitted. I was not aware there could be both the zone and the marker as I assumed it would clash otherwise I would have left it. I went with the marker which provides more support for open data. Now that I know both can be used for the same unique building I can be less destructive fixing any further issues I encounter.
