Thank you for notifying me of that, I wasn't really sure which was appropriate. (I'm kind of a newbie here.) I'll make sure to keep those more appropriate in future, and i'll see if there's any I can find to fix.

I will change them to hamlets. Good enough?

A) I can open an issue ticket all I want, we both know that they're not actually going to change anything.
B) Hamlets might as well not render because the you have to zoom in unreasonably far for them to.
C) You don't seem to understand the fact of relativity. If there is a town of 50 people in a county of 20,000 some-odd person towns, then the town of 50 is not a town. But in a county where the county seat has 200 people and the largest town has 680, a town of 50 is much more significant by comparison. Also, despite its low population, Alleghany is regionally important - it is am important hub for gold mining and is home to Forest Service utilities, road maintenance yards, and the only restaurant and post office for 30 miles every direction. The concept of a community's size is solely based on the comparison with those around it.
D) I live here. I know the importance of my town. Do you?

You see, I do not like to assign genuinely populated places labels any lesser than "village" because for some stupid reason hamlets do not show up on the map. As such, I am willing to concede and let the towns be changed to villages, but I will allow you to take care of that because I still see Alleghany as a town no matter what the tag definition says.

Very well, I'll change them back to denominations below towns (although places like Alleghany I will keep as towns) but places like Forest and Sweetland can be referred to as villages or hamlets.

Dear theangrytomato,
I live in Alleghany, near Grass Valley, and I can tell you that here, Grass Valley is referred to as a city, and places like Alleghany are referred to as towns comparatively. Also Sweetland may look like just a couple houses, but there are a bunch of nearby neighborhoods that identify as being in Sweetland, giving it an actual population of ~500. In rural areas, those are what we call towns.
