| 177547949 | Hello ftrebien, Looking at the 2.3 section of the Brazil Highway Classification policy page - osm.wiki/Brazil/Highway_Classification_in_Brazil#Ideal_route_between_two_cities - trunks connected to motorways at the terminus is not covered. Did you happen to mean the 2.2 Criteria section that details each road class? In that section under trunk, the classification criteria dictates that for a dual carriage road to be classified as trunk it must be satisfy at least one of the four criteria. Based on the wording, it appears you are referencing the “urban way linking trunk or motorway highways” criterion [cc 4]. However, the associated footnote clarifies that "The rule "urban way linking highways" applies only when necessary to maintain classification continuity, not when those highways are already connected through another route.”. Given that clarification, I’m not sure this criterion implies that a road should transition to trunk prior to directly connecting to motorway_link roads or the motorways themselves. This reclassified segment is a short transition, approximately 600 m, occurring at the end of the secondary frontage road. I’m not aware of examples in Brazil (or any other country) where viaduct sections of frontage roads are upgraded to trunk, particularly over such a short distance and without directly connecting to the broader trunk network. Have you discussed this approach with anyone else in the community by chance? From my perspective, the outer frontage road passing beneath the viaduct aligned more logically with classification hierarchy and continuity principles, and with the criteria outlined in the Brazil highway classification wiki section, prior to the June 2025 version, when it was a unified primary class. as it fits the definition of a “paved urban way connecting primary highways to each other or to higher-class highways.”. Happy to discuss further and will refrain from changing back until a consensus on these road features is decided. Thank you,

| 122190083 | Hello afgb1977, Thank you for the detailed information regarding classification in Colombia. I appreciate your dedication to improving the data and want to reassure you that my team’s goal is to support and collaborate with the local community. Regarding way/728101150, thank you for adding ground level photographs, but I trust your perspective and the information you’ve shared generally on these types of roads. My intention in the original response was to justify the potential thought process of the inactive editor, Grasmere, in making the change from over two years ago. That said, I am happy to defer to your edits and knowledge here. I will keep your insight regarding classification in rural areas in mind as I edit moving forward and to be sure, I will pass on your insights to the rest of my team. Thanks again for your local knowledge of the area. That is important and very valuable to the map. Have a nice day! |

| 122190083 | Our team has been actively engaged in projects in Colombia for several years, and the local community is well-acquainted with our presence. Our Community Lead, Teddy Ahlvin, has introduced himself on Telegram. Our previous Community Lead, Andrew Wiseman, has actively participated in numerous discussions on the Colombia OSM talk list Talk-co, which has been shared among Telegram participants. Additionally, information about our projects can be found on GitHub (https://github.com/osmlab/appledata/issues/43) and the Organized Editing wiki (osm.wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities/Apple). These platforms provide further details on our ongoing projects in Colombia. Our team is aware of the Colombia/Guide to Mapping you linked and consistently adhere to any local community policies outlined on the wiki. Given the building=house tags (way/1066141249
Since classification can be subjective and interpreted differently by various users, I will defer to your expertise in these cases. Thanks for the feedback! Best regards,

| 122190083 | Hello afgb1977, The editor Grasmere is no longer on our team so I will address your question on their behalf. The road at way/728101150 was likely reclassified as residential as it accesses settlements and the OSM wiki for highway=track states ”Roads used for access to permanent human settlements or facilities should generally not use this tag” (highway=track). The road at way/708831977 also appears to have settlements along it but I can understand why unclassified would be favorable here, as it represents mixed used roads. I am happy to defer to your edits and knowledge of the area here. Have a nice day! |
