about 1 month ago | This was an automated import of city GIS data that had taken place back in 2014. Due to OSM's tight restrictions on automated edits, the process was very carefully documented to ensure proper practice. This diary entry from Ixbarth is a great resource on the topic. osm.org/user/lxbarth/diary/23588
about 1 month ago | Thanks for understanding! And apologies for the rash revert (wanted to avoid further conflicts in case additional park details were being added today). Appreciate your help in adding amenity details to these parks, as I hadn't been able to ground survey many of these yet.
about 1 month ago | Hi valaise, Please proceed with caution when shifting landuse areas that don't look perfectly aligned with aerial imagery. First check that your aerial imagery offset aligns with nearby building outlines (which come from NYC DOB). Once doing so, the landuse areas should look much more aligned with the aerial without needing to be shifted.
7 months ago | Update: I saw some of your changeset comments regarding bench placement. I guess that also needed fixing! Lol
7 months ago | Haha, it happens. Fortunately no good data was deleted by these mappers. Mostly just new features and tags that needed some reworking. At least the new benches, tables, and trash cans look okay. Will keep an eye out if any if these new CSI mappers stick around. Give them some pointers on what still needs surveying.
8 months ago | When tagging gardens, please consider using access=private (or ownership=private) instead of private=yes. This tag is not valid and not recognized by any data consumers. More info can be found on the wiki.
8 months ago | Please consider using access=private instead of private=yes. The latter tag is not compatible with any data consumers. More info can be found on the wiki.
8 months ago | Hello, Thanks for helping specify which roads are private in your area. In the future, please use the tag "access=private" on the roadway line itself, rather than marking individual points on the roadway with "private=yes". Private=yes is a non-standard tag that is not recognized by any routing systems. If only pard of the road is private, you can split the roadway using the X key. I have made the correction already for the three locations you've edited last week, and if you have any questions, you can reply here or message me. Happy mapping
8 months ago | Why did you remove the wikidata tags from this hospital?
8 months ago | Hello, thank you for contributing to OpenStreetMap. I have reviewed your changeset and fixed some errors. In the future, please do not place crosswalk nodes directly on sidewalks or at street intersections. This causes pedestrian routing not to function properly. Instead, only place crosswalk nodes at the point where a crosswalk line intersects the street.
| 164385832 | 8 months ago | Hello,
This was meant to replace the previous tag "parking_space=charging@(mo-su_10:00-22:00)" as part of a cleanup of invalid values for the parking_space tag. This city is the only location I've seen time-sensitive charging spaces for parking mapped on OSM, so if there is a more appropriate way to tag these stalls that's compatible with local standards and data consumers, I'm happy to revise! |
8 months ago | Hello, Thanks for your contributions to sidewalk mapping in Staten Island. I saw that you requested your edit to be reviewed. For future edits, I recommend not connecting crosswalks nodes and fire hydrants directly to the sidewalk line drawn. Instead, connect the crosswalk node to the street, and add fire hydrants as a free-standing point connected to nothing. If you have any addition questions or uncertainties, feel free to message me or reply in this thread. Happy mapping!
9 months ago | Hi Steve, Thanks for the huge contributions to Staten Island lately. To ensure you have the easiest time drawing landuse boundaries in iD, I recommend offsetting your aerial imagery to align with the building footprints of Richmond County, which is approximately (-0.05, -1.15) for Esri and (0.33, -1.24) for Bing. A lot of sidewalks (and pools) in the north of Staten Island have been contributed by HOT mappers and have not been reviewed and aligned to this offset yet, so I recommend turning off footpaths if this becomes a distraction. I've helped to re-align sidewalks in all the areas you've worked in on Staten Island so far, and will continue to do so, so you don't have to worry about that. :) Thanks again for all your work to make Staten Island's maps better!
9 months ago | Hey Mat, It's the latter. This is a facility that sells Coca-Cola vending machines. I can add a note about this if there's no clearer way to tag this.
9 months ago | Hello, The tag "private=yes" is no longer in use. Please consider using the tag ownership=private if you wish to denote that the parking lot is privately owned and operated by a business or individual. Or use access=private if the lot is not publicly accessible for everyone to park. If only nearby store customers can park here, then access=customers is sufficient.
| 163261271 | 9 months ago | Hi yellowf1ag, Thanks for helping add school mascot tags in Florida. For future edits, please be mindful that mascot tags are treated similarly to name tags. They should be capitalized and pluralized like a title (e.g. "Patriots" instead of "patriot"). More info on nomenclature can be found on the wiki here.

10 months ago | Oops. Yeah. That's definitely an iD misclick. Fixed now.
| 162451163 | 10 months ago | Hello, In an effort to better standardize the mascot tag, please use a capital letter for the mascot name (in a similar vain to the capitalization used in name=* fields). More info shown on the wiki as the community continues to refine the nomenclature. Thanks!

10 months ago | Hi Mat, Thanks for helping keep OSM tags consistent and up-to-date. One small issue I noticed was a service road that had been tagged private=yes. This tag has been formally deprecated recently and has been phased out across the UK in favor of tags including access=private or ownership=private.
11 months ago | Hi bitsu, I notice you are tagging gates and roadways with "access=Private". It is important that you use all lowercase lettering for the tag value "private" for these roadways to properly route and render as private access on most platforms. It is also encouraged not to make changes in several distant locations (many cities away) in one changeset, since this creates a large bounding box that encompasses a large portion of the country, making review more challenging for other mappers. Thanks or understanding.
