| 178633500 | Hey all, I'm not sure why we are labeling this road as emergency access. It seems like an odd edge case, so I figured we should open a discussion. This road is on private land (confirmed via GIS data), with gates at both ends. There is a sign where it connects to Lively Ranch Road that says "Road Closed To Thru Traffic Emergency Access Only." There is no signage along the route where it connects to West State Highway 29. There are indeed locked gates at both ends. I did look into the Wilco county road and bridge map (https://wilcomaps.wilco.org/vertigisstudio/web/?app=4d2e5a660bb14d9eae490b382c3fb17a), and this road is private property. My best assumption is that it's left over from an old ranch, and still belongs to that ranch owner. I have been here in person (family lives here), and I removed it because other mapping programs will sometimes route users down this gated road. Plus, with it being on private land, we "generally" do not map private property roads. My best guess is that the road is meant for fire or other access to the ranch. Not for some kind of through road of emergencies. I would be inclined to keep the gates, but change the road to "track / land-access" and keep all properties as private. |
