Yes - the route master is what Wikidata registers as the OSM relation, but some Wikimedia projects use the tagged child elements to draw the route on maps.

Thanks for the info. I'll see how well that works with the Wikimedia API that links Wikivoyage, Wikidata and OSM. Also, luckily things are looking up for Hong Kong as the lines are starting to show.
