Agree, these natural woods in largely-developed surroundings are tricky. I'm largely agnostic on how to handle these tree save common areas maintained by homeowners' associations. In this case, the natural area is a combination of three Darby Hall parcels bordering the single family home to the southeast (https://polaris3g.mecklenburgcountync.gov/#mat=92092&pid=21150118&gisid=21150118). It could pretty easily be added to the Darby Hall residential area, or one could overlay wooded areas on the residential areas.

Wooded common areas maintained by HOAs are reasonably less likely to be redeveloped or cleared than trees on a single landowner's lot, so it's potentially less maintenance to map them now.
