Hello Wesley Alves,

Thank you again for your response last week. I would like to resurface the name tag issue discussed near Brasilia. Curious if you would agree that these name tags that reflect Quadra / neighborhood block ids to a description tag ( description=*)? The OSM wiki suggests this tag is best for "additional information about the related element to the end map user” and fits the situation here. If you agree with that, I can update those features with name='QD' OR ‘QUADRA’. Please let me know what you think.

As always, thank you for your mapping contributions & have a good day.

Thank you Wesley Alves for your quick response!

While adding addresses to the map is valuable, Its important to ensure that edits follow OSM best practices (osm.wiki/Good_practice#Verifiability). Typically, address data should be added as nodes rather than to landuse polygons or highways, following the OSM guidelines for addresses (osm.wiki/Addresses). For example, this node (node/9099225653) demonstrates the preferred method for address additions. Highway features generally should not carry address information, and it’s best to avoid using the name=* tag to store address values (osm.wiki/Names#Good_practice). If the highways currently do not have name tags, it is alright for them to remain unnamed until someone can add them using local knowledge or an approved resource. Lastly, Google Maps is not licensed for use in OSM, and is forbidden to use as a resource for map edits (osm.wiki/Google). Its important to only use resources approved for use in OSM or local knowlege as a basis for edits.

Would you be open to revising the recent edits by converting address data from landuse polygons to individual address nodes? It would also be great to remove any address’s added as name tags from highways, as they do reflect actual street names.

Thanks again for your contributions, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hi Wesley Alves, thanks for contributing in OSM!

I noticed in your recent changesets from May 24th to June 23rd that many landuse=residential polygons were added with names using the format name=QUADRA #. Could you clarify whether these tags are meant to represent addresses or actual place names?

Additionally, I saw that some highway names were added or modified. For instance, name=QD 699, CH 41 was added to the residential road at way/159207383. This format isn’t commonly seen in Brazilian street naming conventions and seems more descriptive of an address rather than an official street name.

I also noticed that “OpenStreetMap (Standard)” was cited as the imagery source. Just a reminder that this doesn’t serve as a verifiable reference for most edits in OSM, since it's the default rendering layer and not a data source (osm.wiki/Verifiability). When making significant updates to names, it's helpful to include a verifiable source so others in the community can review the information. Do you happen to be local to the area and know these street names in surveys, or if not, could you share what source you used for these name additions and any other edits to highway names?

Thanks in advance for clarifying!

Agradecemos antecipadamente o esclarecimento!
