Changeset When Comment

Why was this change made? This road is well paved, not gravel.

Hi Ropino, I hadn't noticed that weird "maxspeed=G" when I'd edited before. Sorry. I've removed it. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Yueying.
Which street are you referring to? I edited this a year ago, so I don't recall the exact changes I made.

Real OpenStreetMap rules take precedence over local conventions. See TRUE OpenStreetMap instructions:

highway=secondary

Marking this dead-end road as "highway=secondary" is wrong, and unhelpful both to humans and automated routing.

OpenStreetMapの説明により、「Secondary Road」は「A highway which is not part of a major route, but nevertheless forming a link in the national route network. In developed countries it normally has 2 lanes and the traffic for both directions is usually separated by a central line on the road.」 [ highway=secondary ]

osm.wiki/Japan_tagging はオススメだけです。

Please note that「林道」simply means "road through a forest", though in a certain context it can indeed mean "forestry road". Some 林道 are scenic toll roads.

Thanks for the info. I'm not familiar with the controversy you mention (pointers would be apprecaited), but in this case it's not a forestry road. It's a road rode, for normal cars doing normal things. I was literally there yesterday.

Hi Alex,
I don't know... if I added that tag, it was not intentional. I must have been sloppy somehow when entering layer numbers.... sorry!

I see it now... yes, iD does not warn. Probably there are other places my edits broke things, sorry! Thank you for alerting me... I will take care. My habit is to join ways that seem like the same logical road, but I'll stop until I can find a safe way (e.g. JOSM), or I'll update iD so that it warns me.

44859088 about 9 years ago

Thanks for explaining. I would like to investigate so I can understand more... can you tell me the latitude/longitude of the point where the mistake is (bus route and not bus route got joined). I will see how it looks in JOSM and iD and try to learn how to map better. Thanks!

44859088 about 9 years ago

Oh, sorry! I don't know how to use JOSM... I tried, and it seemed much less convenient. I couldn't figure it out.

Normally iD tells me about relations, so maybe I got confused this time. Or, does iD not tell about bus-route relations?

Cool, thanks, it now looks better. I'd sent (less curt) message to you via OSM describing the situation... the road had been moved since the GSI images were taken, and anyway, I use GSI road-edge data to help position roads very precisely. If it's a road in Japan I've modified, its position is likely highly accurate....

This changeset broke reality... the road had been precisely laid out (by me) using data from the Japanese government, and now this update broke it and it's obviously wrong. This changeset should be reverted.
