"from my experience with humanitarian mapping, this will never happen" : as a matter of fact, during the past 12 months at Cartong (www.cartong.org), we complete several projects with our local partners for example in Mali with OSM Mali, in Tadjikistan, in Burkina Faso, in Sudan with HCR. I personaly contribute to such a project in Haïti, at Dessalines, 100 km South of Grande Plaine. I don't pretend it's easy, but I can testify that's possible if the project respects its local partners and takes into account their working conditions.

Thèse modifications are made for a water ressources protection project conduced by local authorities in Grande Plaine. Cartong is a french NGO specialized in mapping and data management for humanitarian and development. For this project we intend to map all inhabited places and at least one access way.When a way seems 2 meters large and desserving small groupe of building, we tag it as unclassified. In second step, our local friends team using Osmand app, will collect more liable datas to complete and correct the first mapping.
