Good question. Looking into things, it appears that Scottish schools appear to fall into three categories: state funded schools (local_authority), grant-aided schools (the majority of which appear to be special schools so special may be accurate as a tag here?), and independent.

This appears to be backed up by the Education in Scotland Wikipedia article, although for some reason the types of schools are only under the secondary school section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Scotland#Secondary_schools:~:text=there%20are%20three%20broad%20classifications%20of%20schools%20in%20scotland

I think the right values for Scotland are likely to be:
- local_authority: for any school under the management of a council in Scotland. This would apply to most schools.
- special: for schools with specialist provision such as The Royal Blind School
- independent: for schools that require fees for admission and enrolment, such as Strathallan School

Are we sure that school:type=community applies for schools in Scotland here? The Wikipedia article linked from school:type=* implies that it's only for England and Wales.

Hi. Just so you're aware, the buildings you've added within way/1161099185 don't exist anymore as they were demolished in Summer 2024. I've updated the map now to reflect that, leaving behind the ways in the hopes that they don't get re-added again.

The OSM wiki cautions relying on aerial imagery for adding buildings as it may be outdated: osm.wiki/Using_aerial_imagery

Hi. Just to make you aware. The buildings that you added within the demolition area (way/1161099185) were demolished last year. I've corrected this and removed the buildings again in changeset/153893436
