Re the local community, I am in the community so I know full well how it should be tagged. As for the service road/driveway issue, in my work area, we are tagging any "highway" that leads off of a road into a residence or business as a driveway because the software we use sees a potential road as a path to route our vehicles. We DO NOT want that to occur. I understand the naming convention generally used elsewhere, but this doesn't affect too many users comparatively. We appreciate your understanding. Do you have anything else about the closed road matter?

pwbriggs- You mentioned that parking lot entrances are not driveways. Well, they are and need to be because if those lot entrances are marked as a road that causes issues with the routing software I use which uses OSM as it's base map.

Based on OSMs guidelines I would recommend a change in classification to Tertiary. As for the project - https://snohomishcountywa.gov/6701/S-Machias-Rd---Snohomish-2026

Appreciate the feedback pwbriggs. Snohomish County classifies that road as rural minor arterial. OSM doesn't appear to have that as a road type option. Hence "Secondary." Perhaps it really should be classified as a Tertiary Rd in part because of OSM Wiki's definition. Thoughts? Currently the section of road tagged Closed due to construction is Closed due to construction and open ONLY to local residents and businesses. Hope this helps!

Thank you for reaching out about this change and the tips. This is definitely NOT a highway=footpath. What you are seeing is a driveway to homes that WAS incorrectly labeled as a footpath. The actual path starts where I have noted it and meets the adjacent roadway. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
