about 2 months ago | This reversion was also based on the user adding duplicate bikeways where they already existed, cluttering the map, creating potential way finding conflicts, and deleting entire sections of major roads without substitution in neighbouring Saanich. As such, I chose to revert all the edits relating to this broad sudden change as otherwise the map would have been unusable for navigation and routefinding until every one of their edits could be individually repaired.
about 2 months ago | This has been reverted. Do not make massive, sweeping edits like this without consultation with the community or third-party review. Current road designations are based on City and CRD data. This is effectively vandalism and has been reported as such prior to reversion.
about 2 months ago | Please do not make drastic, sweeping edits like this in a well mapped area without consulting the community. You have outright deleted an entire section of Shelbourne Street, added inappropriate redundant bike lanes, and broken a large number of relations. Please revert all your recent changesets relating to Shelbourne Street. It is not appropriate to have changesets that cover multiple projects - please keep them small. For instance, removing Shelbourne Street should have been its own changeset as that is a major change. Please consider adding "have someone review my changeset" in the future. This has caused a serious lapse in data quality and will take enormous effort to repair.
10 months ago | Please stop using separately mapped cycleways for the purpose of on-street bike lanes. The appropriate mapping is already done (for a rendering, see layers > CyclOSM). The appropriate tag is cycleway, directly on the roads with the bike lanes. Please revert the edits - the amount of misleading mapping that has been done is dangerous and misleading for cyclists. I will be commenting this on all your cycleway changeasets in hope that you understand the damage this has done to the map.

10 months ago | Please review OSM mapping standards. Unprotected on-street cycle lanes are mapped as part of the road vector (tag: cycleway:lane). Please stop mapping on-street unprotected cycle lanes as cycleways. Cycleways are intended to be used for protected infrastructre. Mapping these is dangerous for cyclists as it will lead them to believe there is safe infrastructure. For a better view of what is already mapped, check the Layers > CycleOSM. Where you see dotted lines along the sides of roads, that is the built-in bike lanes being rendered. Please revert these edits.

about 4 years ago | Because they are gone and have been for a few weeks. The intersection has been re-engineered without the dangerous slip lanes for increased pedestrian and cyclist safety. Not sure why the comment was warranted - they were removed because the District of Oak Bay removed them in real life.

This is a small fragment of the former streetcar interchange. While the streetcars formerly ran on Main Street for passenger service, there used to be a car barn and the result is that there used to be a loop running around this block and a small amount of track still showing through the pavement on Quebec Street. |
over 7 years ago | My apologies - I renamed it to identify while editing it as a multipolygon as there are many forests in the region. The error has been fixed, thank you very much for bringing this to my attention.
