The meaning of

recreation ground (noun)
a piece of public land used for sports and games.

The school is not public land. The area mapped out is the school sports field where the children play at lunchtime in the summer and have PE lessons. This coming Monday and Tuesday, the school is holding a sports day. Let me know your thoughts on this.
