Dear trampintheforest,
I noticed that you removed the railway crossing I added a few months ago and added notes to the relevant nodes explaining that crossing is in fact "possible and usual practice".

After looking for official OSM guidance on mapping "illegal" pathways, I found helpful discussions here osm.wiki/Talk:Tag:railway%3Dlevel_crossing and (possibly?) here: osm.wiki/Proposed_features/illegal.

I believe that re-adding the crossing with an "access=private" tag should strike a good balance between mapping what is actually there and not encouraging illegal and dangerous behavior through automated routing algorithms.

"If you don't want to use JOSM, I could do this too, but wanted to give you the chance to do it yourself :)" - I do appreciate this, but it would be best if you rolled back the edits in JOSM. I have not used the program before and will find time to download and install it (including the Rollback plugin) later in the month. Thanks!

"(...) I climbed a few times at this place and derived the line from the Tiris Digital Terrain Model, so I thought it had been very precise." - I agree, my edits to the Eastern part of the Knappenwand cliff were incorrect. Tiris supports the previous version.

"(...) there is no real railway crossing, so I wanted to avoid, that someone coud think there is one." - I understand the concern. Still, the footpath is well trodden (both from Knappenhof and from the small clearing at the end of Tirolerhüttenweg) and it does cross the railway line. The tag "level_crossing=uncontrolled" should clear this up. Apologies for not adding this earlier.

"(...) landuse areas within a forest should be added to the forest-multipolygon with role "inner"." - I see. I have removed the area all-together, seeing as it technically isn't grass, but rather an area of active reforestation with young trees already exceeding 50cm in height.

"(...) you just extended the tunnel for the path to the viewpoint, was that by mistake?" - Yes, I missed the additional "tunnel" attribute of the path. It has been corrected today.

PS: "In case you didn't know this helpful tool to trace back changes" - This was very useful!

Thank you for following up! I appreciate your diligence. Is there a way to revert only part of my edits (eg. the Eastern part of the cliff)?

Yes, they are still exists. This is why the best way to show them would be to label them as "Out of Commission".

All but one connecting roads have been removed. I did not have time to edit them as well. Fences have been erected around the entire SCKCEN Technical Domain perimeter, but this one was the first one I could confirm during a survey.
