IIRC Lyft has special permission because it’s under their license. Basically if an employee posts changes it’s open but only for their contributions. The licensing for OSM is very confusing lol

I hate to be like this, but did they give us explicit permission to use their imagery?

I’m not sure if you were aware, but we can’t use whatever imagery we want even if we have access to it. It has to comply with OBdL. Most imagery providers do not adhere to the strictness of OBdL.

I saw that you used nearmap API as a custom background.

We are not permitted to use them for tracing or any derivative work. Did you somehow get explicit permission from nearmap to use their services for OSM?

I forgot to mention that I also added addresses to Herrington Court and also moved Hunter Pointe closer to the front of the neighborhood.

Yeah I completely agree 100%. People should read the wiki a lot more or even reach out to ask questions..

Also, I made a tool to help make adding addresses easier and faster without relying on JOSM.

Thank you for the tip! I believe that day I was being a bit zealous and was doing nothing at my job, so I sat down and did a bunch of random stuff. I’m keeping it more local now

Yeah I saw that after I got started. I was mainly getting frustrated because it seems to be a botched TIGER import or some kind of GIS import. I’m assuming either a contributor or maybe a GIS employee did an import on their city dataset. I took a peak at it and they do have something eerily similar to one that included retail and everything, basically just a bunch of shapefiles. I didn’t realize that the place=neighborhood was preferred because in DFW where I live they always put the name on residential areas. Maybe because it’s often gated. Let’s just do the points and leave the landuse=residential without names.

Unless it’s clearly fenced in or gated. What do you think about that?
