I always check with the wiki, what tags I can use and for office=government it says under useful combinations, admin_level=* - to indicate the administrative level (national, provincial, etc).
Which I think makes totally sense to also give governmental institutions a tag, describing on which level they work.
Therefore I am going to leave it like I tagged it

Yes, I know. And this time I deleted it with purpose, because the address is wrong. The house number belongs to the town hall, which I mapped further North the same street. This address here has a different number, which I am going to change soon.

Regarding this building, corner Octavio Vargas/Francisco Bascur, I have not touched the outline of that building. I might have moved the whole square. But it was like this before. I then only added the bakery node and updated the node of the hostal. Because the resolution of the aerial imagery is really bad at the needed zoom level, I can't really say, where one house ends, and another begins. I know, it is one property and somehow everything is covered somehow.
I would leave it as it is, because really it isn't that important.
That's also the reason, I avoid adding any housing in the squares. One just can't say what is what, where one house starts, another addition begins, and so on.

Hola,

my bad. I read the OSM wiki and under surface=concrete, it says something about prefabricated concrete plates. I did not read further, what that actually means, I just assumed, that the concrete used for the streets here looks like plates.
You are right, I am going to correct this. Totally my bad. Sorry.

Hm, what do you mean? If I delete a POI in Osmand, how can I "just" delete the POI but not the address. Those are usually two different things, or no?

Hi Felipe,

I am currently in this small village and I want to update POI, businesses and so on. When I am riding through the street with my bike and I see, that what is in OSM is not there in reality, I delete it. I carefully look for any sign or whatever, which could indicate, that there is still something. Just when there is absolutely no sign of any business, a phone number or something, then I delete it. I just can´t stand there each time for minutes and minutes and write a full description and summery, why I do this, why I add this and so on.
It is my hobby to update places I live or I go.

Hi Felipe,

I do it a different way. I am using Osmand with Google Satellite Aerial tiles and hourly updates.
The current OSM data corresponds quite good with the Google tiles.
So I use this a reference, but of course can´t use Google Satellite in JOSM. But I with a bit adjusting and verifying my changes in Osmand I could manage to realign a few things. And I can apply an imagery offset to Bing or ESRI. In the end I have to decide for the imagery, to which the already given OSM data corresponds most.
However, I focus more on adding businesses and such, because this is more important for other travelers and other apps and website, which are using the OSM database.
The realigning was just a bit trying out. But well, I am going to check with Strava, but don't understand why Strava. Is there any reason?
Saludos, Andre

Thanka Luis. I cycled there this year and made some notes for changing this confusing and wrong tagging of the MEX1 here in this area. But I couldn't figure out, when which section has which name. You did it! Cheers.

Hello abakus_uploader,

I am totally aware of complete directions and I do add them, when possible. But in this case, there is NO street mentioned on their facebook page. Please have a look at yourself. The address is just "Ślepie 9, Olecko gmina, Poland".
In this case, I just changed the tag addr: city to addr: place as you advised.
But I don´t really get the difference but good to know.
You know, I am a mapper and in my opinion it is more important to add things, even if there might be some wrong or incomplete tags. I mean, it is not really wrong, city or place, I don't get it. It is really nit-picky and I get, why beginners get frustrated with all this overwhelming rules the OSM community implemented. The debates I read in some forums are just crazy.
In the end, mapping should be fun but I have the feeling, that this community is really too much focused in small details.
But no worries, I am learning step by step, how to map correctly. But I am not willing to spend hours and hours to read through wiki articles and forums. If sometimes something is unclear, I look it up. I did that already many times and I learned a lot. But it is really confusing sometimes.
However, thanks for letting me know.
Cheers, Andre
