Changeset When Comment

Oh. May I suggest two things, to help everyone?
1/ It would help enormously to say that you had made the correction in your initial comment. In this case, I spent a while hunting for a mistake which no longer exists. ("joined" platforms at different layers here seems strange, and had OSM seen it in my update - surely it would? - I am certain I would have corrected it.)
2/ Please state exactly what you do in your comment - e.g. (I make it up) "Disconnected northern end of platforms 7 and 13; they are on different levels". That way, the other mapper can check the work, and learn from it - and perhaps you will have made a mistake too!

Hello. As you have seen, this station is a complex area, with numerous underground footways, which, of course, connect the platforms at different layers. I don't see any platforms at different layers directly joined, however, nor a warning of it from OSM, but we may have missed something. Can you be more specific please. This station does need more surveying and attention, especially for the Baker and Jubilee Lines.

Thank you - and thank you for your vigilance!

Ooohh. Well, I didn't know that! Thank you for excising that data. I think I haven't recorded its equivalent anywhere else, and I certainly won't do so again. It seems that the UK patent office has been rightly cautious - good for it.

A-and ... I omitted the benefits to Sustrans of making their datasets available to OSM!
Currently, I have in mind:
* Authoritative and reliable representation of their routes on the Map
* Greater Public awareness of traffic-free/ traffic-minimal routes, especially in built-up areas
* Public awareness (without advertising, of course!) of Sustrans, what it does, and the health and social benefits it offers to the Public.
You will surely think of others.

Lastly, when I referred to "on-road/ off-road options" in my first response, I meant something more like "with-motorised-traffic/ without-motorised-traffic options", sorry.
I'll be quiet now.

Ah. A further thought, sorry. Of course, if those alternative routes (Bournemouth - Branksome, and Mudeford Ferry 'spur') aren't signposted by Sustrans as 'Route 2', they ought no to be so labelled on the Map. (I wasn't looking out for NCN signs while I was there, sorry.)
However, we might want to respect the original mapper's thought and, when removing the association with Route 2, create a new (OSM) Route, with a Description, say, to indicate that at least one person found it a useful option. Those with greater experience than I have may have a better idea.

Oh, Andy, I meant to say:
You probably know that Route 2 runs from Dover to St Austell, but we have only Christchurch to Axminster; could Sustrans give us the dataset of this Route, and the others? It would save an amount of manual effort, it would make OSM more relevant to more people, and it might resolve some questions/ FixMes. Perhaps not, given that they want to sell a physical map - but, er, only between Dawlish and Brockenhurst ..?
Dee.

Hello, Andy.
Thank you for your inquiry. After some research, I'd say that the short section, on Branksome Dene Chine is not a part of, or relevant to the National Cycle Network Route 2. I think it should be removed.
The longer section, from the centre of Bournemouth to west of Branksome Park may be an (unauthorised/ deprecated) alternative (shorter/ more interesting?) way to connect to Route 25, using main roads - and that may be why it isn't actually connected to Route 2 at Bournemouth Pier on the map, although a cyclist could make that connection.
I could ask Sustrans (the owner of the Routes) for guidance, but I see that you are a member of the Data Working Group, and so a question from you will surely carry more authority.
The parallel routes at Boscombe are on-road/ off-road options, shown by Sustrans, and so I think they are correct.
As for the Mudeford Ferry 'spur', it look as if it may be an incomplete (unauthorised/ deprecated/ scenic) option for the route into Christchurch.
I'd be interested to hear what response you receive.
