I have been remapping red in Central Scotland and Southern Highlands over February when I have time. It is a slow process.
Will continue a bit further into the Highlands throughout March when the mood takes me.
Clarinet2's Diary
Recent diary entries
Back from holiday at Carnac, France.
There were plenty of gaps to work on.
Tracks from 10 morning's cycle rides with 700 photos to prepare and add to the Map.
Could take some time to get through it all.
Good holiday with decent weather.
Clarinet2
Completed the outline of Grangemouth last night.
Over a few weeks, I have added the significant roads and a couple of motorway links to the bare roads already present and went on to add the river and burn and docks water. Last night, I had enough information to add the railway completing the framework.
Just need to go an fill in the areas of the framework now.
Howe of the Mearns Audax
Posted by Clarinet2 on 21 May 2009 in English. Last updated on 7 June 2009.Another audax run out of Forfar on a nice day.
Good few roads added North-East of Forfar.
Added Laurencekirk Station which I understand has just reopened after about 40 years.
The really slow section of the track was the time I spent following a flock of sheep being herded down the road.
Tidied up the South end of the M80 North of Glasgow and added Junction 2 slip roads from three GPS runs.
this will be the last bit of motorway I do as I have covered all the motorway sections I use regularly.
Just uploaded the trace and added some missing roads to the West of Forfar from the Glen Isla Audax that I was out on at the weekend.
Unfortunately, my GPS stopped working for about 15 minutes but did get it restarted. Will need to keep eye on unit. Used an old lower quality track to fill in the gap.
Bike ride in Cumbernauld
Posted by Clarinet2 on 1 April 2009 in English. Last updated on 3 April 2009.Had a couple of hours spare in Cumbernauld on Monday night waiting for the kids so rode round on the bike.
Main parts added to map are the Eastfield Road roundabouts and Balloch Loop Road.
The results from the road sign photos at night are great. Wait for no traffic (don't want to distract anyone), roadsign reflects flash and gives very clear image. Tried photos of a couple of junctions to remind myself. Waste of time, almost total darkness.
Used some tracks from my work commute to add detail to the M876 Junctions and some of the bridge detail.
I had the GPS running on way to work and with the A80 closed due to an accident, used this little back road (Walton Road) to avoid. Looks OK but too many trees on the Northern end so will have to repeat trace when I have a chance to cycle over there.
