I borrowed a friends GPS and used it to map my first road. The instructions for uploading and editing the traces were far clearer AFTER I had edited it rather than before. I hope to become a regular contributor as there is a lot of things issing"from the map in my town of Cobram, Victoria, Australia.

Also for anyone reading this, I will have to change my username - the space breaks the link that comes the email openstreetmap sends you when you upload a gpx track.
